Client Interfaces

RSD Folders offers three powerful client interfaces for accessing documents, thus providing the enterprise with the flexibility to choose a product appropriate for the end user computing environment.
All interfaces access information stored either in one RSD Folders database or using the Global View Monitor, providing a single consolidated view of information stored on multiple RSD Folders servers throughout the organization, running on Windows NT, UNIX and OS/390 platforms.
Furthermore, security rules defined on the RSD Folders servers ensure that end users gain access only to authorized documents.

RSD Folders Thin Client provides fast access to RSD Folders information under any standard Web browser. Thus any authorized users, including customers and employees without direct access to the enterprise computing environment, can view and print the documents they need.

Based on the latest Java servlets and J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) technology, this implementation eliminates the need to install any additional software on the client machine, as all processing and HTML page generation are handled on the J2EE server. Taking advantage of the set-up on the client machine, the product opens a document either in its original format via the Plug-In associated with the file's format or in another more accessible format using on-the-fly converters.

RSD Folders/API offers the enterprise the greatest flexibility in designing a client interface. The IT team can use this command-based product (written both in C and Java) to integrate RSD Folders information within enterprise custom applications such as CRM, ERM and EBPP running on Internet browsers or PC workstations.

The user benefits from the ability to access business critical information within the context of an already familiar interface, and the IT team benefits from the elimination of additional user software installation or training.

RSD Folders/PC extends functionality beyond viewing and printing. Users can organize document related to their current projects off-line, and when completed, upload critical information for inclusion in the server database.
Operating in a Windows environment, this product facilitates the incorporation of user documents in the enterprise archive.
