RSD Doc2Print extends the power of RSD Folders and EOS (Enterprise Output Solution) to include advanced print management services. It increases productivity and reduces printing costs by intelligently distributing print requests between network printers, maximizing printing capacity and ensuring that print requests arrive at devices best suited to process them.
Designed for high-volume printing, particularly in a distributed, multi-platform environment, Doc2Print efficiently automates print management at the department or enterprise level. Also supporting print data flows not generated by RSD products, it offers a single solution for print management across an organization.
Doc2Print is an optional component for RSD Folders and EOS and includes the following features:
- Seamless integration with RSD Folders and EOS facilitates management of automated print jobs from server components, or requests issued manually by Folders and EOS clients.
- Intelligent print job delivery compares each print request against printer-specific rules for document size, ensuring that high-volume printers are not cluttered by small jobs better processed by other network printers.
- On-the-fly data format conversion and dynamic rules-based print routing ensure that jobs sent to network printer pools are processed by the first available printer that can properly execute the request, minimizing lost time and wasted resources resulting from printers receiving unrecognized data formats.
- Support for third-party data format converters extends the native features to include virtually any converter on the market.
- Print queue management and workload balancing dynamically routes jobs between devices and avoids sending requests to printers that are offline, maximizing printer throughput and productivity. An option for delayed purging also permits requests to reside in a queue for a configurable time period.
- Multiple administration interface options offer the flexibility to manage the print environment through Doc2Print, EOS or Folders interfaces, facilitating distributed management in large enterprises.
- Centralized print definitions facilitate administration of native and third-party data converters, supported formats, and printer availability rules, providing a single repository for all system definitions.
- Flexible print job management allows administrators to control print jobs at a macro level across the enterprise, or down to an individual RSD database or printer level for tasks such as resending an interrupted job.
- Cross platform support includes Windows, IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, and Linux for System z, providing print management services for even the most complex enterprise IT environments.
