RSD Announces Latest Release of EOS Thin Client and AFP Viewer Plug-In

(Geneva, Switzerland) - Applying the latest available technologies, RSD is now delivering updated and more powerful versions of both EOS Thin Client and AFP Viewer. RSD has always been a pioneer; in 1993 being the first to provide product-integrated AFP viewing; in 1998 leading the way with its 'Thin Client' support for viewing EOS data.

About Thin Client:
This is a full-featured, self-contained product for accessing information in an EOS database. Built on a Java applet, it operates under a standard Internet browser. It provides both time and savings benefits for both end users and systems personnel:

  • Decreases systems personnel workload - Because the Thin Client functions under a Web browser, it eliminates the need to install and maintain any addition software on the PC.
  • Deploys information instantaneously to a large user base - Thousands of users can immediately have access to the mass of information stored on EOS servers.
  • Eliminates the need for training - Any user familiar with a browser, can easily and intuitively access information.

With EOS Thin Client version 1.6, users now have the ability to connect to any printer attached to an EOS server. The filter selection (i.e., the ability to select specific reports and documents) has been enhanced to include every function currently available in EOS/PC, RSD's fully featured client/server product. Other significant new features include the online help facility and the ability to define language and country directly in applet parameters.

About the RSD AFP Viewer:
The AFP Viewer Plug-In provides users with the ability to get full fidelity viewing of AFP print streams. This component was designed to meet the requirement of maintaining only minimal software resident on the PC and was initially implemented for the EOS Thin Client. Presently, it is available, as well, for other RSD client products.

AFP viewing support has been enhanced to more quickly render even the most complex graphical displays on the user browser in only a few seconds. For color reports and documents, two new features (optimized color display and a 'smooth option') reduce the graininess of an image and make documents easier to read.

For over three decades, RSD continues to be a leading provider of document and report management solutions including high volume digital document repositories. RSD products are used by over a thousand large organizations in all industry sectors to deliver securely, day after day, high volume output and mission critical documents to the user community and customer base.
